Week 1: Mission of the Church

MONDAY

Read Matthew 21:33-39

Questions

1) In this parable Jesus is speaking against the religious leaders. The religious leaders were equipped with all they needed to lead the people of Israel. What types of things got in there way in being faithful to what God was asking them to do?

2) The religious leaders often took advantage of their position for their own benefits. Are there any areas of your life where you are trying to use what God has given you for your own sake instead of for the things He is asking you to do?

TUESDAY

Read Matthew 21:40-43

Questions

1) What may happen if we continually choose to not do the work that God is calling us to do and produce what God is calling us to produce?

2) In the process of asking ourselves the above question we can not ignore God’s grace, but neither should we continually abuse it. How will you be faithful in the mission that God has given you to accomplish today?

WEDNESDAY

Questions

1) What are followers of Jesus called to do?

2) Spend some time looking through the New Testament as to what that really means. Is it just converts or does it mean something more?

Questions

1)How can we think we are doing what God wants us to do and still miss it?

2) What is the result of continually pushing back against the things that God is calling us to do?

FRIDAY

Read 2 Samuel 11:1-5

Questions

1) What was the first mistake that David made that led to him putting himself in the scenario where he ended up disobeying God? (Hint it is located in the first verse)

2) Not doing the things that we are supposed to be doing often leads to us getting in trouble. What is God calling you to do today? Be encouraged to be faithful in whatever that is.
