Week 1: Who Is He?

Read Acts 7:51-57

1) In what ways have you resisted the Holy Spirit’s work in your life?

2) What dangers are you in if you continue to resist the Holy Spirit’s convictions and attempts to lead you into truth?

Read Ephesians 4:25-5:2 (especially verse 30)

1)  Are you aware of the fact that your choices and attitudes effect the Spirit’s work in your life?

a) Looking over the past day/days, are you currently living in ways that grieve the Holy Spirit?

2) In considering the impact our choices have on the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, how important is it for us to intentionally make the decision to “walk in love, as Christ loved us”?

a) In the midst of seeking to live a life pleasing to God as you let the Holy Spirit transform you from the inside out, what do you need to be aware of to prevent yourself from falling into a legalistic/Pharisee-type way of living that misses the point of what Paul is teaching?

Read Luke 12:11-12

1) How often do you feel like you have to have all the answers before you will share your faith and testify to what God has done?

a)What causes you to feel that way?

2) The Holy Spirit was sent to be our helper. How much freedom could you experience  if you were to trust that He will help give you words to speak in your moment of need as you are being led by Him?

Read: Acts 1:6-8

1) How important was it for the disciples to wait until the Holy Spirit came down upon them before spreading the Gospel?

 a) If the Holy Spirit was essential for their ministry, why do we often seek to live a part from his working in our lives today?

2) How difficult can it be to wait for God to move in a powerful way in our live? How important is patience in the life of the believer?

Today we are starting our new format for our daily devotions. Dive into the passages in Scripture and spending time thinking about the questions.

Read John 14:16-17, 26; 15:26-16:1; 16: 7-14

1) When Jesus returned to the Father He sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper. According to these passages what are some of the ways the Holy Spirit helps us?

2) How have you ignored the Spirit’s conviction or the ways that He leads you into all truth? As you look back what has been the end result of those acts of disobedience? How will you live differently in response to what the Holy Spirit is doing in your life this week?

3) Spend some time reading through the Bible and ask yourself, what other ways does the Holy Spirit help me follow Christ and live out my faith?
