Where Can I Serve?

At Mount Hermon Church, we believe that serving is an important part of worshiping God. Whether it’s in teaching or cleaning up after a service, serving food, or praying with someone having a bad day, we all have a vital role to play in carrying out our mission to Grow for the Glory of Jesus Christ and to make disciples. Sometimes it can be intimidating for people to get started serving. That’s why we have created several opportunities for you to get your feet wet and discover your gifts in serving others.

Greeter & Hospitality Team

Each week, dozens and dozens of people visit our campus for a worship service or other event. We want them to know that we’re glad to see them and we care for them. Volunteers with a warm personality and friendly smile go a long way in helping our guests and members feel at home. Some will hand out worship bulletins, others may prepare refreshments, and still others are may help provide directions for those new to our campus.

Care Team Volunteers

As our church increases in size, so do the needs of our congregation. To help minister to people, our Care Team assists the pastoral staff in showing care for others. Volunteers will follow up with guests, make occasional visits to ill or elderly members of the church, and reach out to those we  know are hurting. Care Team members should have compassion, empathy, and the ability to show love in tangible ways.

AV/ Sound Techs

Our worship services utilize a lot more technology than they did in days gone by. In order to have the enhancements that technology brings to our services and events, our AV/Sound Techs have important jobs. While some specialize more in technology for visuals or lights, others may focus more on sound control, it”s important that all of them have basic understanding of running a sound system and our church’s projection equipment. It’s very important they work closely with the worship team and must be able to troubleshoot.

Children’s Ministry Helpers

Our children are our treasured gifts from God. We take seriously the role the church has in teaching kids and discipling families. We’re always looking for additional volunteers to help us. Volunteers may be asked to undergo or provide information relating to a recent background check. Safety of our kids is our top priority. Volunteers may be asked to help a teacher on a rotating basis, or become a teacher on a rotating basis. Additional ways volunteers can help is by signing up to help with special Children’s Ministry events.

Youth Ministry Volunteers

Rooted Youth Ministry works with students in Jr & Sr High, or ages 12-20. Our Youth Group meets on Sunday evenings from 6-8 PM and we like to make sure we have plenty of volunteers for each event. Volunteers may be asked to help lead a game or activity, share spiritual insights, and make students feel valued. Additional volunteers may be needed for special Youth Ministry events and outings.

Buildings & Grounds

Mount Hermon Trustees handle most big projects and ensure our facilities are in tip-top shape. But occasionally we need volunteers to help with projects and special needs. The more volunteer work we have the more we can use financial resources for ministry needs. Volunteers may help pick up debris on a work day, wash the windows, help with construction projects, or assist in landscaping among other things.
Teachers and Group Leaders Mount Hermon strongly believes in the importance of Small Groups and Bible Studies in helping individuals grow in their faith and connect to the Church. As we continually seek to expand our offerings of groups, we continue to seek to identify potential small group leaders and Bible Study teachers. This could mean leading a group most of the time, or being an assistant to another leader, or simply being a fill in as needed. These volunteers will need to have a strong and consistent walk with Christ, be teachable, and able to lead discussions and share important applicable truth. Also, they will be working with other group leaders and that pastoral staff to insure as many people as possible are connecting to a group.

Prayer Team Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Our Prayer Team is an emerging ministry forming right now. It is our hope that each prayer team member is able to pray daily for their pastor, a list of church members, special needs, and missions needs.
